Yard work

August 2, 2011

I have a confession to make. A few months ago I tore out my entire front lawn with the best intentions of replanting. I have yet to do so. Yes, I am that house. But… tomorrow is a new day and I have hired someone to come rototill my yard so that I can finally replant.

The lawn-less yard with a beautiful new retaining wall.

I have not completely neglected the yard, though. James rototilled the side yard where we planted a little garden and spread bark dust around the beds. Watching James rototill was so funny. I think he was a little to tall for the rototiller to be ergonomically correct. When he stood up straight, the rototiller bounced along, making the whole affair look like some sort of bizarre rodeo event. Once he crouched down a bit, the whole thing seemed to work a lot better. I think I teased him too much for him to agree finishing the rest of the yard. (I have video of the affair, but will refrain from posting it mostly because James refuses to do it and I have no idea how to do it myself.)

Me with my tomato plants. Yum!

I have big plans to whip this yard into shape. We’ll see how that goes.

Yay! Don’t forget to pick a spot for your tree.
